The Matrix Treatment For Schizophrenia
By John Conrad
In the late few years medical institutions are trying to find an alternative to the drug schizophrenias treatment, or, if not an alternative, something to support this treatment. So, a Korean doctor find a treatment witch use virtual therapy, a treatment named “Matrix”. Why Matrix? Because is a connection between the Matrix movie and the Matrix treatment.

In that movie, the main character (Neo)is having a virtual training. He fights with virtual opponents by connecting himself to a computer witch generates different critical situations. With the help of this training the main character of the movie will be prepared to face well the difficulties of the real world.

Like the movie character, the schizophrenic patients is training himself to face his fears helping him to live almost a normal life.

More specific, the patient is connected to a computer witch is scheduled to test his reactions to some specific actions that the patient is afraid to face with, by using virtual people, virtual locations, etc. It start with the most common, the easiest situations, and when the patient react as it should be to that situation that is facing with, is ready to step to another level, a higher level. If not, the computer is protecting him, it gives him some alternatives that makes the patient to fell safe, but keeping him in the nearest of that situation. The computer is testing him till he is passing the obstacle, and that is happening after the patient is solving his problem.

The Matrix treatment is a kind of psychotherapy, but instead of a doctor who listen the patient and who tells him what to do we have a computer witch is leading the patient, step by step, nearest to live a normal life.
