Depression – Suicide And The Sexes:
By Abigail Franks
Schools and daycare centers should almost be considered Ground Zero when it comes to lice. Head lice, those pesky little white bugs that seem to make their way to your child's head every so often will probably return soon. The reason is that the lice problem continues to be a growing issue in many of our schools.

There are many claimed ways to get rid of a lice infestation. The problem is that almost as many cannot be relied on to be effective or work in your situation. This is because even a single head louse can re-infect a person within weeks. One of the most common reasons for a re-infestation is not following the directions no matter if a commercial or more natural product is used.

Many products, even the natural ones require re-treatment after 7-10 days. Many parents will deal with the initial outbreak and dutifully use a product or remedy then not do the follow up. The child is allowed back into school and everyone goes back to their daily routine. The follow up treatment to kill any other lice however is never done and a re-infestation occurs.

These parents are the ones that claim that the treatment program doesn't work! It wasn't a treatment program or product that didn't work, but the lack of following the directions. Some even claim that resistance to pesticides is the reason why the lice were not killed.

Another very common mistake parents make is not using enough of the product. This is especially true of insecticide based commercial lice products. Making a lice treatment shampoo stretch in attempt to save a little money is shortsighted. These medicated shampoos are designed to poison lice and it needs to be applied in adequate amounts to be effective.

Natural head lice remedies also have specific directions that if tried, should be followed. Many of these natural treatments instruct the user to generously apply a common household oil based product like mayonnaise to the infected head. The mayonnaise is then left in the hair overnight.

You can check out the site below for additional information on another method of killing head lice using pesticide free essential oil products. These are safer and milder than the pesticide based shampoos.

The whole premise of using mayonnaise or other various oils is essentially used in an attempt to suffocate the lice bugs. These home remedies usually do not work if only because lice can survive submerged in water longer than nine hours. This means that if you have any chance of smothering the lice, that mayonnaise or oil needs to be left in the hair a long time.

The point is that no matter what had lice treatment you select, it's important to follow the directions exactly. Getting rid of lice in your home is not difficult, but it does require consistent actions.
